Beelink Home NAS Guide: ME mini vs ME Pro vs EQ14 for Storing Family Photos and Media

Beelink ME mini home storage devices in blue, white and grey

Phones now shoot 4K video and 48-megapixel photos, and many families have years of pictures spread across old laptops, phones and paid cloud plans. A small network-attached storage (NAS) box at home is one way to bring it all together, back it up and stream it to a TV.

Beelink is best known for mini PCs, but it now sells several compact storage devices aimed at home users. This guide compares four of them: the ME mini, the ME Pro 2-Bay, the newer ME Pro 2-Bay with an Intel Wildcat Lake chip, and the EQ14 mini PC as a budget home server. All prices and specifications come from Beelink’s US store as listed on 4 November 2026 and may change.

Beelink marked the ME Pro models and the EQ14 as pre-sale items shipping within 35 days when we checked, so allow for that if you need one by a set date. The ME mini Pearl White version was in stock, while some other colours were not.

The ME mini, pictured at the top, is a palm-sized cube that holds storage on SSDs rather than hard drives. Beelink lists six M.2 slots supporting 2230, 2242 and 2280 sizes, for up to 24TB in total. It says the unit runs quietly thanks to a silent fan and vertical airflow, has a built-in power supply so only one cable is needed, and pairs 5G and 2.5G Ethernet ports with Wi-Fi 6.

Beelink pitches it as a family media hub that works with Kodi, Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. Because there are no spinning disks, it is a good fit for a living room or a bedroom office where noise matters. The trade-off is cost per terabyte: large SSDs cost more than hard drives of the same size.

The ME Pro takes a more traditional NAS approach with two drive bays, which suits anyone who wants lots of capacity at a lower price per terabyte. Beelink describes an all-metal unibody case about 50% smaller than typical 2-bay NAS units, a slide-out motherboard that can be swapped for Intel, AMD or ARM boards, and dampeners to reduce drive vibration noise. The N150 version comes with 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, plus 5GbE and 2.5GbE ports.

The newer ME Pro variant uses Intel’s Wildcat Lake Core 3 304 processor, which Beelink says is built on the 18A process with 24 TOPS of AI performance. The bigger changes for home users are the networking and expansion: a 10GbE port alongside 2.5GbE, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports rated at 40Gbps for external drives or monitors. Beelink lists support for a 4TB M.2 SSD plus two 30TB hard drives, DDR5 memory expandable to 64GB, and UFS 3.1 flash for the system.

It is the one to pick if you already have, or plan to buy, a 10-gigabit home network, or if you edit large video files directly from the NAS.

The EQ14 is not sold as a NAS, but it is a common choice for a simple home server. It uses the same Intel N150 class of chip, with 16GB of DDR4, two M.2 slots for up to 4TB, dual 2.5G LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6 and a built-in power supply. Beelink describes it as near-silent, with air drawn in from the base. At $385 it is the cheapest option here, but it has no drive bays, so it suits a modest photo library or a Plex server rather than bulk storage.

SSD or Hard Drives?

M.2 NVMe SSD of the type used in Beelink storage devices

This is the main decision. SSD-only boxes like the ME mini are silent, small and fast, but storage is expensive per terabyte. Hard drive bays like those on the ME Pro give far more capacity for the money and suit large video libraries, at the cost of some noise and size. Whatever you choose, remember that a NAS is not a full backup on its own: keep a second copy of irreplaceable photos elsewhere, such as an external drive or a cloud service.

  • Quiet, compact photo and media storage for a family: ME mini.
  • Lots of storage at a lower cost per terabyte: ME Pro 2-Bay (N150).
  • Fast 10GbE networking and Thunderbolt expansion: ME Pro 2-Bay (Core 3 304).
  • A cheap starter Plex or home server: EQ14.
  • Check which drives are included, as some bundles ship with only a boot SSD.

Software and Setup

Beelink’s listings focus on hardware, so plan your software before you buy. Many home users install a NAS operating system or run media server apps such as Plex or Jellyfin, which Beelink names as compatible on the ME mini page. If you are new to NAS setups, look for a community guide for your chosen software and model before ordering.

Final Thoughts

Beelink’s storage line covers a useful spread: a silent all-SSD cube, a compact two-bay box, a faster 10GbE version and a low-cost mini PC. Match the model to how much you need to store and how fast your home network is. You can compare current configurations on the Beelink store.
