White Lotus Season 2 Review: The Satirical Masterpiece

If you want to watch something truly entertaining right now on TV, then The White Lotus is a great option. Smart and sexy at the same time, the TV show aims at pleasing the audience. Mike White, the show’s creator is back with another cautiously designed batch of elite guests at the White Lotus in season 2.

The White Lotus Season 2 Review: HBO's Emmy Smash Goes to Italy - Variety

When the first season of this hotel-set satire aired last year in summer, people were caught off-guard. The show is back with a new cast in season 2. Needless to say, the show is as sharp and smart this time around as well. This time around, the show has made a transition from Hawaii to Sicily. With a completely new cast. The guests are at another branch of the renowned resort chain that offers a gorgeous view of the country’s Mount Etna volcano which seems perfectly fitting as the plot is gradually building up toward eruption, to say the least.

Jennifer Coolidge, Tanya, is now married. She is still with Jon Gries, Greg. However, the news is now that she is now unhappily married to him. She also tags along a contemptuous Gen Z assistant, Portia, played by Haley Lu Richardson. Tanya has ordered Portia to stay in her room when her husband gets annoyed by her presence. However, the assistant fails to follow the order and spends the early episodes of the season sulking and moping around the resort, avoiding her employer. Also, she has a habit of crisscrossing with other guests at the resort.

The basic plot of The White Lotus is quite simple. The White Lotus is a five-star hotel and resort, and something awful has happened at the premises that involve multiple murders. Now, we go back a week and observe different families and couples as they are caught up in the chaos. There is also the suspense of who is going to discover the body. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the second run of this interesting TV show is not only interesting but boasts a profound plot that resonates and relates to our time.

The White Lotus Season 2: Who Dies at the End?

The viewers would come across two sets of yuppies in the show. Cameron and Ethan, played by Theo James and Will Sharpe respectively are two college roommates. They have now fully established businesses and are successful businessmen who are on a vacation with their wives Daphne and Harper, Meghann Fahy, and Aubrey Plaza. It is worth mentioning that Plaza has done a tremendous job as Harper, the wife of a workaholic.

That’s not all. There are three generations of American men as well, struggling to connect with their Italian roots. The cast is led by Micheal Imperioli. Lucia and Mia are two local sex workers caught up in the dispute and can slip in and out of the resort by night.

The White Lotus Season 2 depicts a layered plot. The writing is dense and gets your mind working. As for the audience, they are unable to place their sympathy and hate in one place for long.
